Natchez is located in the Southwest part of  Mississippi, and the county seat of Adams County.  US highway 61, 84, and 98 connects the city to Memphis, Baton Rouge and Mobile Alabama.  The Natchez Trace Parkway originates in Natchez and connects the city with Jackson, the state capital.  The city of Natchez covers abot 14 square miles and Adams County 435 square miles.  The population according to the 1990 census is 19,460 Natchez, and 35,356 adams county.  The Climate brings pleasant spring and fall seasons with the average winter temperature of 53 degrees, and the average summer months 80 degrees. 
The Board of Supervisors which consists of five board members governs the county.  The Mayor and the Board of  Aldermen  runs city government. The weather is a key element in the quality of life in Natchez. Ten months of fine weather makes outdoor recreation a plus for the community.  In education, there are four elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one alternative school.  Also, in education there are five parochial or private schools located in Natchez.
